SACAP E-Zine January 2009

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION OR NEW YEAR'S REVOLUTION

RESOLUTION:
Decree; declaration, decision, motion, ruling
Promise; pledge, oath, vow
Resolve; determination, steadfastness, tenacity, firmness, perseverance
Solution; answer, end, upshot, outcome

Versus

REVOLUTION:
Rebellion; revolt, uprising, upheaval, insurgency, insurrection, mutiny, riot
Transformation; upheaval, conversion, alteration, development, change, reform, innovation, modernization
Rotation; spin, turn, cycle, circle, orbit, gyration

What has been your experience of New Year’s Resolutions? How long do you usually keep them? Have you given up making them because you don’t keep them?

How many of us have already not stuck to our New Year’s resolutions, that is, if we made any?

According to the science and practice of Neuro-Linguistic Programming aka NLP (Course starting 2 Feb), we create the world with the words we use. Don’t you agree that the word Revolution has much more oomph? How about we turn our lives around, not just with our thinking, but with dynamic, consistent, actions in 2009?

Here are a few of the things that could trip us up:

  • The no 1 culprit: If we have competing values.
  • If the words we are using are negative or not helping us create the future we desire.
  • If we focus on what we don’t want in stead of what we do want.
  • Not creating a strong enough vision of what we want to achieve.
  • Not creating a strong enough desire, incentive, or lack of importance in our lives.
  • You have not made a committed decision to see it through.
  • Lack of Self Image, Self worth, Self Confidence makes us feel we don’t deserve this and we find ways to justify our position or blame the lack of what we want on other things, events, people, environment, and so on.
  • Lack of planning and time management skills. You may also be climbing the wrong mountain.
  • Lack of focus, busyness, or trying to do too much (my personal favourite).
I am sure you can come up with many more.

What is your favourite way of not doing what you set out to do? … …Face it, pack it by the horns, and let it bite the dust.

Remember, your feelings and emotions are your guides. If it is too much like hard work and you have to flog and force yourself, something isn’t right. Find what it is so that you can move forward and beyond it.

Here’s to a compelling vision for 2009 with enough energy and momentum to see it through.

Coaching can be a great help to realise your dreams. If you are a coach, even more reason to practice what you preach by being coached to greater excellence and fulfilment.

SONJA’S SNIPPETS
I love Obama's mantra "WE CARE! WE CAN!"

Let's all stop hiding our talents under bushels and bring our gift to the world because WE CARE and WE CAN!

If you have had a dream for years and time has passed you by, "too busy" with this and that...

How about taking a stand for your self and for everyone else. Make a decision. Go for it. Get help and assistance if you don't know what to do next...

SHARE YOUR GIFT WITH THE PLANET as Obama is doing now.
